Michael and Carmen
Nickname(s): Mike and Carmen
Dear Birthmother,
This is truly the most emotional letter we have ever written. We respect you and your decision, and our hearts are with you in your life changing journey. It is the love that you have for your child that may allow our dream of being parents to become a reality. We hope this letter will open a window into our lives and you will see a loving couple who will make loving parents, putting your baby as our priority so that s/he can be inspired to have their interests and dreams come true.
We recently celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. Even before we had our first date we knew we had chemistry. We met while Michael was working the swing shift as a reserve police officer and Carmen as a dispatcher on the night shift. We planned on attending a benefit for youth about a month down the road, but after a couple of weeks of lengthy emails and telephone calls decided to make a lunch date. We didn’t want the date to end and went for a walk in the park after lunch. We have been inseparable ever since that day. We both believe children would enrich our lives. We want to be a mom and dad, and we feel adoption is the perfect way to start our family. Our friends and family agree!
We have three bedroom home on a corner lot in a quiet section of our small town. There is a beautiful old red cedar tree in our front yard that must be about 50 feet high. Our fenced backyard has a multi-level deck overlooking our flower and vegetable beds. There is a separate fenced dog area designed ideally our 2 dogs. We are currently in the process of building a lizard habitat and planting grass in the backyard. We maintain a very active hummingbird feeder in our garden. We live within walking distance of several city and county parks; one has a swimming pool, a pond with ducks, a playground, and sport fields. And although we live in a small town we live close to larger cities with all of their attractions and services. The beach is only a 30 minute drive away.
Michael is a Fire Captain and has worked in the fire service since he was 18 years old. He loves what he does so much he also volunteers for our town as a Captain and teaches fire technology classes along with being a reserve police officer. Michael’s schedule allows him to be home an average of four days per week. Carmen is no longer a dispatcher, but works for a healthcare company as a senior staff assistant and plans on reducing her hours to be home more. We attend weekly church services at a Christian church in town.
We both enjoy just about any outdoor activity, including camping, ATV, hiking, fishing (Michael is the one that is really good at it) and walking. We usually take one “big” vacation a year and a few small ones here and there. We are torn between Yellowstone, Spain and New Zealand for our next big trip. We look forward to sharing our lives with a child someday soon.
We will raise our children with a positive outlook toward life, lots of encouragement, lots of hugs and kisses. We will believe in them, nurture their interests and encourage fun, the wonders of learning, and the importance of kindness and respect.
You and your baby are gifts from God.
Carmen and Michael
