Dear Birthmother,

We are Paul and Mindy.  We first met in the seventh grade, and we have been best friends and soul mates ever since.  Paul is a vice-president of corporate development and strategic planning for a global company.  He has an MBA and has studied abroad at universities.  I am an elementary school teacher, currently teaching second grade.  I have a Master of Education, with an emphasis in early childhood development.

Paul and I enjoy many of the same hobbies and interests.  In the spring, we look forward to warmer temperatures that allow us to run outdoors.  Recently, we both ran in our first half-marathon and felt very proud of this accomplishment.  The summer brings golf, biking, and hiking when we take time to enjoy the beautiful wildlife, lakes, and recreational parks offered in our area.  Fall means cider mill visits and donuts, salmon fishing, and college football games.  We have talked at great length about exposing our child to many different colleges and universities with the hope that he/she will find a place at one of them someday.  In winter, you’ll find us skiing, curled up on the couch or by the cozy fireplace reading, or making extra trips to the theater to catch a good movie. 

My biggest passion is spending time in the kitchen.  I love preparing healthy and homemade meals for our family.  Paul and I have been extremely fortunate to travel extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, and the Caribbean.  We have such a sense of curiosity and desire to learn about people and the diverse world in which we live. We truly appreciate the opportunities for personal growth we have experienced throughout our travels and can’t wait to share all of that and so much more with our child. 

Paul and I believe very strongly in a poem entitled, “Children Live What They Learn”.  It is our commitment as parents to instill our values and beliefs to help nurture and develop our child into a responsible member of society.  If we had to select four values that are the most important to us, they would be family, education, faith, and determination.  Paul and I are both grateful to our parents for providing us with a solid foundation built upon these very same values.  For our parents, family was always the center of attention and it remains like that for us today.  We were both taught, at a very young age, that education is the key to everyone’s success.  Paul and I have a deep faith in God and our religion.  Equally as important, we have a deep faith in people.  We trust that most people make good choices and try their best to do the right things in life. 

We admire the strength and courage that have brought you thus far.  We promise your child will know the tremendous amount of love you have for him/her.  Your child will understand the ultimate sacrifice you made to give life to him/her.  You can rest assured you will be remembered in our daily thoughts and prayers forever.  God bless you today and always.
