THE ROYAL PRINCE
Carol Gindi

adoption articles On January 4th a call came into the Network from a hospital social worker saying a woman gave birth on January 2nd to a little boy whom she wanted to place for adoption. We have had many adoption births at this hospital and we are the social worker's trusted source to call.

Baby and mother were being discharged and time was of the essence. The Birthmother requested an out-of-state couple, and with minimal information we began calling couples to find the child his parents.

Vinnie and Rosalie, in New York, were one of the couples we were able to reach. We instructed them (at 4:00 p.m. EST) to be on a plane first thing Tuesday morning. After being resuscitated, they called us back with all plans in place to leave for California at 6:00 a.m. the next morning to meet their son, Matthew.

Several more calls came in from them. Anxiety, fears -- you name it, they had it, who wouldn't have?

On Tuesday, January 5th, I received the greatest joy on earth. I was able to present Matthew to his parents and big sister Julie. Vinnie fell to his knees and sobbed like a baby when he set eyes on the most beautiful baby any of us had ever seen. I can only compare the features, the beauty and disposition to a royal baby. The moment was overwhelming. Everyone at the Network shared this incredibly emotional experience. Life doesn't get better than this.

Matthew and Aunty Carol fell in love. I know I fall in love from time to time, but this was the real thing. I wanted to take this child home. He was everything and more. I fed him, changed him, held him and couldn't stop loving him. The next day he came to visit his Aunty Carol with his family, who were still in shock; showered but in shock. Another hour or so of holding Prince Matthew and I was hooked to the max! That evening, Allan and I went out for dinner. I couldn't stop talking about Matthew. Obsession had set in. We went to the hotel where they were staying and for another hour I got to hold my prince. This went on for a week. I have five kids, wouldn't you think I could control myself? Not a chance!

Prince Matthew and his new family; Vinnie (Daddy), Rosalie (Mommy) and sister Julie, returned home and after having spent time with my family, we all knew a bond was created that would last forever. I think about Prince Matthew and miss his cupid, gorgeous face. Now, "my cousin Vinnie" calls regularly, sends us stuff he knows the Gindi's love and will hopefully return to California soon with our enchanted child.

Dreams do come true and miracles really happen. I thank Vinnie and Rosalie for their trust, patience, and belief in the Network. Most of all I thank them for their love and friendship and for leaving Matthew alone with me -- knowing I was capable of stealing him away!
